I am considering the Dubler as someone whose physical coordination simply cannot handle playing instruments the traditional way but can sing reasonably well. A lot of my top vocalist influences are Eastern (think Greece, Middle East, Pakistan, India, etc.), and before investing in something like this I would want to make sure this is something the software would be able to handle without force-converting the notes to fully conform to Western expectations. Does anyone have experience in this area?
Hi! At the moment Dubler is just limited to a western chromatic scale, so it will convert the nearest frequency to a MIDI note within a traiditional chromatic scale. i.e 440Hz = A
There are some limitations when working with MIDI but alternative tunings are something we’ve had requested quite a lot so it is on our feature request board!
That is good to know. It may not be very useful for me to get Dubler yet if it is going to force notes into one scale only as I am not always holding to that. Is there any indication of when that feature might be coming?
(As an example of the types of music that have had a significant influence on my own style, Azam Ali, formerly of Niyaz, or bands like Orphaned Land, are very inspiring to my own style. Trying to vocalize something like an ‘oud might get odd if being forced into Western tuning.)
